Cards with paint and foil

This is a fun and easy way to add dimension, texture and interest to your cards.  Take a look!
With Flying Dragonflies rubber stamp from Sheena Douglas and
sentiment stamp from Fiskars Make a Wish clear stamp set

With Bird mounted stamp from Hero Arts and  cling rubber sentiment stamp from Funny Bones
This technique is usually done with a gell plate but I didn't have one so I made do with foil, applying regular Deco Art acrylic craft paint to the foil and blending with a paint brush.  I then placed cardstock onto the paint and applied some pressure.  When dry the paint acts as a resist which allowed me to blend in some distress inks and get an awesome background.  I then cut some shapes, using double sided adhesive sheets (from Scrapbook Adhesives) and applied one sticky side down, peeled off the protective sheet and then added foil directly to the adhesive (this is Designer Foil from Clearsnap).  The sentiments were stamped directly to the card and heat embossed.  Note:  because the paint adds texture, you may not always get a perfect stamped image...

I had more pieces of painted cardstock already prepared - its a bit of a messy process, so try to make lots while I have the paint out!  From those I stamped and cut the bird and dragonflies.

These cards are so much fun to make.  If you want you can prepare your cardstock with gesso to get a smoother finish, but I like these just the way they are.

Hope you try it.

P.S.  Bazzill Basics Card Shoppe cardstock forms the card base of all my cards and comes in so many great colours.
