Iced Tea Cards

I had some fun experimenting with and creating these iced tea embellishments.  And I am happy to share with you.  I stamped some glass shapes and `smooshed` them onto a few drops of Vintage Photo Distress Ink refill liquid.  I then took an ice cube stamp and randomly stamped these using the same refill ink.  After the glasses were dry I cut them out, dipped them into embossing ink and covered them with clear embossing powder.  I love these!  Background papers are from Webster`s Pages (The Good Life collection).  Perfectly frosted iced tea, just in time for our hot summer weather.

Here is a close up of the glasses; unfortunately you cannot see the shine in the photo.

Girl with Butterflies in Autumn

Isn't she lovely!

We are fortunate to be able to carry such a large variety of designer stamps.  This one from Carabelle Studios is one of my favorites.  The Girl with Butterflies tells her own story and she can be used on so many cards for so many precious occasions.  Here are 3 different versions.

I used distress markers to colour the girls and butterflies.

What else:
For plaid background card:  Paper is from Simple Stories Simple Vintage Halloween collection
Sunflower created from Spellbinders and Sissix dies
                                             Stamp sentiment is Technique Tuesday
Shapes are cut from Lifestyle Crafts layering dies
Distressed with Tim Holtz Distress Ink

White background card:   Paper is 49 and Market Sun and Sea collection
                                          Stamp sentiment is Jillibean Soup
Dots made with Viva Decor pearl pen

Set your own Path card:   Paper is Basic Grey
Shapes are cut from Lifestyle Crafts layering dies
                                         Stamp sentiment is Hero Arts
Distressed with Tim Holtz Distress Ink
                                         Added a handmade bow

For all my cards I use Bazzill Basics Card Shoppe cardstock as a base.  This is thick and always stands up to layering and all the other things I want to do with my card.  For glue I use my favorite Art Glitter glue.

Hope you have a beautiful day.

Tropical Flamingo Cards

Oh, how I love making cards with flamingos.  They are such regal looking birds, yet so much fun to work with.  Here are two different takes.  One a birthday or thank you card, the other a wedding or anniversary card, or maybe even a retirement card.

What I used to create these cards:
Card bases made from Card Shoppe Cardstock from Bazzill Basics
Background is the Fern Background stamp from Scrapbook Customs.  I stamped on some fabulous paper from Alexandra Renke (blue watercolor basic cardstock).  I used Artist Blending Pencils from Spectrum Noir to color the fern.  There is a little walkway in both of these cards that came from a bit of Island Escape cardstock from Kaisercraft.
Flamingos are from a layering stamp and die set from Hero Arts.  I used Hero Arts ink to stamp the flamingos.  The legs of the male were filled in with alcohol ink (Studio 71) and he was edged with distress ink (Tim Holtz).    The "fabulous" sentiment is from the flamingo set; the hat and crown come from another Hero Arts Stamp set.  The little flower pots and the orange flower are die cuts (not sure where I got them; I have had them for years!).  The flowers in pots in the couples card are from Prima Marketing.  The " congrats" sentiment is a die from Marianne Designs.

The fern background has become my new favorite stamp.  You are sure to see it many times if you follow my blog!

Birds and Spellbinders Bird Cage

Today, three cards made with Spellbinders fabulous Bird Cage One die.  These were designed to be wedding cards, but could be anniversary or valentines.  Make them what you will...

Here are some closeups.  They are all very different.  I am not sure which one I like best!

For this card I used stamps from Hero Arts. One is a bird bookmark  stamp from which I cut the birds and flowers after colouring with Chameleon Markers  The sentiment is also from Hero Arts. The bird cage is black, the background cardstock is a navy and black damask from Heidi Swapp's Hawthorne collection.  Into this I used a rectangle die with my embossing plates to create a mock border.  The green cardstock is My Colors cardstock; dies used were a flourish die from Die-namics and leaves from Sizzix.  The little bow is from lace that had been dyed with Tim Holtz Distress Stain.

This vintage style card was lots of fun to make.  I took a piece of patterned paper from Marion Smith's Nirvana collection and sprayed with the new Tim Holtz Distress Resist Spray.  Then inked the heck out of it with Vintage Photo Distress Ink.  What a gorgeous effect!  Then I took old book pages, some dies and stamps. (birds from Lifestyle Crafts die, flower from Elizabeth Crafts die, sentiment stamp from Heritage Makers - stamped on the margin).  The ivy is cut with a Cottage Cutz die from My Colors cardstock and this time I cut the birdcage from Metallic Paper from Bazzill Basics.

Ok, maybe this mixed media card is my favorite.  I chose patterned paper from my stash (brand unknown..), ripped it into strips, glued the strips to a 4x6 inch piece of cardstock and inked with Tim Holtz Distress Ink.  These birds are too cute!  They are a Hero Arts mounted stamp.  I used Chameleon Markers to colour them in. Flowers and leaves are Prima Marketing and the sentiment is a stamp from Gourmet Rubber Stamps.  This time I cut the birdhouse from Bling Cardstock by Bazzill Basics; inside is a bit of Ivy left over from the last card.   I used foam tape from Scrapbook Adhesives to adhere most of the pieces.

Hope these cute cards inspire you to stay creative.

Fun with Flamingos

Who wouldn't enjoy receiving one of these cute cards.  Both cards made with Hero Arts layered flamingo stamp and die set with coordinating inks.

Growing up in a swimming family, I can never resist the allure of the swimming pool.  This card went out to my sister who recently celebrated a birthday.  Gorgeous paper is from the Poolside collection by Crate Paper, as is the acrylic clear sheet with foil accents.  These acrylic sheets are full of tags that can be cut and added to cards and scrapbook pages.

As with all my cards, my basic cardstock is from Bazzill Basics, Cardshoppe.

Here's another card, using another sheet of Poolside paper, which I stamped with some of the other stamps from this Hero Arts set, then simply sponged with some distress ink from Tim Holtz/ Ranger.  I then mounted it on some Rose coloured Cardshoppe cardstock from Bazzill Basics and added a few sequins on the top.  Love this card.  It is very simple and can be used for any occasion.

Get yourself some of these layered stamp sets.  They make stamping so easy!
You can find them on our webstore.  Order and you shall receive.

Fun with color, Cards

I stamped these little flower images ages ago.  Today I decided to do something with them - I used my Letraset alcohol markers to color them, and then designed a few cards:

I wanted them to have a vintage look and experimented with background colors and edges.  I inked the edges with distress ink and brought some of the ink into the card background.  Added some fun stamps and bakers twine.  These little cards turned out to be today's masterpieces.  (She says, hours later)

Products used:
Flower stamp from Hero Arts
Sentiment stamps from Lawn Fawn and Fiskars
Bakers twine from My Mind's Eye
Letraset ProMarkers and Tim Holtz Distress Ink
Papers from Basic Grey, Studio Calico and Bazzill Basics
Corner rounder and edge punch from Fiskars
