I primed the cover with white Gesso, then applied Tim Holtz Distress Spray Stains lightly, using the brayer and foam blending tool to give it a soft base of color. Once it was dry I took a few colors of distress ink and blended that in where I wanted more color. Then came a mix of stamps. The Toad was heat embossed with a metallic black powder, the powder also sprinkled around the toad to give some depth - love the effect. I used other stamps randomly on the page, let dry, added some more distress ink with my foam blending tool. Had tons of fun!
Here's a close-up. To add a bit of extra texture I stenciled a bit randomly, using 3D ink (Paper Effects, from DecoArt), and also used a bit of silver foil sheets to rub on here and there, and added some metallic studs as well.
I adhered the fun fairy tag, book page piece and flowers with clear texture gel - which is an absolutely amazing product to use for this purpose. Then I did a bit more blending with distress inks. Love how everything turned out!
The inside pages were sprayed with Distress Stains and stamped very simply. Every page is a bit different, some stamped with butterflies or dragonflies.
This little book will make a great garden journal, just need to decide if I want to give it away or keep it for myself.....
