Card Box

Cute card boxes make a great organizer for birthday cards, recipes.  I printed monthly birthday calendar sheets and can now tuck my handmade cards in behind the appropriate month.  I should be able to store seven or eight cards at a time, with the monthly sheets, more than what I need for family birthdays and anniversaries.

The box measures 7x5 inches and is 2.5 inches deep, I  added some ribbon, tags and simple embellishments.   Make yours to match your own style and decor.

What you need:
2 pieces of basic cardstock (12x12 or 8.5x11)
1 piece of patterned cardstock
Embellishments of your choice
Double sided tape (I used Inkssentials Wonder Tape, by Ranger)
Tools:  Paper trimmer, score board, and  2" circle punch,

Cut one 11x7 inch piece of basic cardstock
This will be scored on the long side at:
                .5” , 3”, 8” and 10.5”
Make a diagonal cut on what will be the sides of the box.
Cut one 7x6 inch piece of basic cardstock
This will be scored on the long side at:
                .5” and 3”
Then scored on the short side at:
                .5” and 5.5” – Trim the corners.
Cut a half circle on the front with 2” circle punch

Cut the patterned paper as follows:
Front piece is cut at 3 7/8” x 4 7/8” .  Mark the centre and punch a half circle with 2” circle punch

Two side pieces are cut at 6 7/8” x 2 3/8” .  Line these up with the box sides and trim to fit the diagonal.

Pre-cut basic cardstock and patterned pieces

Score the l1x7 inch piece to form back and sides of box.

This will form the back and sides of your box.
Trim the sides on an angle.  Do this now.

Score the 7x6 inch basic cardstock , fold, and notch the corners
of each fold, as shown
This will form the front and bottom of your box

The scored ends will form the bottom.  The straight piece will make your front - trim 1/2" off the sides of your front piece.  Use Now trim 1/2 inch off the piece that will form your box front.
Use your circle punch to punch a half-circle on the front panel.
Attach your patterned paper to the appropriate panels, then use the double sided tape to finish off the card box.  Embellish as desired.http://www.scrapperscoveinvermere.net
